Vegan in Oak Glen, CA

Who doesn’t love a little field trip? We have Miss Frizzle to thank for that! Ok, sorry if that reference aged me. I’m on the cusp of millennial and gen z, ok!? Give me a break!

So my sister and friend and I decided to take a little fall day trip to Oak Glen, California as a little autumnal adventure. I’m not sure what Oak Glen is like during the other seasons, but, in the fall, Oak Glen is literally a fall oasis. The whole town is something straight out of a movie or out of Gilmore Girls. Truth be told, I’ve never seen Gilmore Girls, but I imagine Stars Hollow (is that correct??) looks just like this. Again, am I again myself with these references??

Anyway, the leaves on all the trees are red, orange, yellow, you name it. The whole town is filled with apple orchards and candy stores and little markets full of fresh produce and cider. It almost feels like you walked into a Hallmark movie.

Our first stop was Mom’s Country Orchard and it was literally the cutest little shop we have EVER been to. It had a running stove with hot cider, fresh jams and honey (that you could try and taste before purchasing), fresh caramel apples, pickled foods, and a little gift shop/antique store with goods made/collected by an elderly woman who lives in the area. How freakin cute? I could melt. Also, the two women running the store were so, so kind and accommodating and gave our pups treats! Very pet (and human) friendly.

From the store, I got vegan lemon tea cookies, a hot apple cider with nutmeg and cinnamon sprinkled in, as well as the most delicious fresh pumpkin butter. All vegan and all so darn cute! I also got a little antique from the elderly woman for my dresser! 10/10 recommend visiting this shop if you come.

Then we went to Oak Glen village after, which is this little fall village with candy/chocolate stores, ice cream shops, a petting zoo, a playground, a restaurant, and so much more. It’s a great place to bring your girlfriends or kids and just spend the day/afternoon.

I got a candy apple from one of the candy/chocolate stores, but it was cinnamon flavored (like red hot cinnamon flavored), so I wasn’t a huge fan. But A for effort??

Then, we went to the only restaurant in the village called Oak Tree (if I remember correctly). They didn’t have a ton of vegan options, but they did have an all-vegan burger on the menu, so we got it protein-style (aka lettuce as the bun lol). The picture I got was of the veggie burger, though, since they accidentally messed up the order, but the actual vegan burger is an impossible patty and it was pretty yummy!

We also got a modified garden salad as well. The restaurant wasn’t amazing in terms of vegan options, but it was good enough to fuel us for a long ride home. Plus, the wait staff was super friendly.

So there you have it! A few vegan options for your next Miss Frizzle adventure.
