Vegan at Wabi on Rose – Los Angeles, CA

A trendy Japanese restaurant in Venice that has a shit ton of vegan options that I haven’t heard about???? HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE? I’m legit shook. I thought I knew the vegan lay of the land like the back of my hand! Apparently I didn’t…

Well, the place I’m referring to is called Wabi on Rose, a Japanese restaurant in LA that isn’t 100% vegan but has incredible vegan options. To start, the restaurant is SO trendy. Very instagrammable, all from the decor of the restaurant down to the food/cocktails. It’s pink and girly and I’m #OBSESSED. It is my vibe 100%. Plus, half of the starters were vegan and they had a whole list of vegan sushi rolls. I think this might be one of my new favorite places.

The vegan starters included garlic chili edamame, veggie soup, miso soup, seaweed salad, and bao buns (brb crying). The vegan sushi rolls had their own section on the menu and included the classics, cucumber, and avocado rolls, but also some really fun ones like a miso eggplant roll and a roll with raspberries and mango wrapped in cucumber.

There was a lot to choose from, but we ended up getting the garlic chili edamame, the seaweed salad, the vegan bao buns, and the Plant-Based Shawty roll (assorted veggies, lemon, miso eggplant), the Greenie roll (avocado, veggies, balsamic reduction, almond, tamari lemon), and the O.P.P roll (Market greens, slaw, Fresno chili, mango, avocado, crispy tofu, garlic-lime).

EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING. The bao buns were insane, insane, insane. I would do anything to eat another one right now. So soft and doughy. One of the best I’ve ever had. 10/10 recommend. The garlic chili edamame was also incredible and unlike anything else I’ve ever had. I also recommend it. The seaweed salad was good, but nothing crazy. Just normal, good seaweed salad lol. The sushi rolls were also fantastic. I didn’t get pictures of all of them, but my favorite was the Plant-Based Shawty. The miso eggplant was divine and I would eat a bucket of it if I could. 10/10 recommend as well. My second fave was the OPP roll. My third was the greenie roll only because I’m not sure how I felt about the cucumber substitute for nori and the raspberries on my sushi. It was good, just kinda different. (FYI, I might be mixing up the last two rolls, I can’t remember which was which.)

Then to drink I got the Lychee on Rose Draft cocktail, which was made with vodka, lemon, pomegranate, lychee, elderflower, and citrus. It also came with the most adorable flower and lychee fruit on top. It was SO good. It tasted like rose/lychee kombucha. So fruity and flavorful and good.

Plus, look how cute the to-go boxes are!! They even had gold foil insight. I mean, COME ON. This place is epic.
