Vegan at the Milling Room NYC

Guess what everyone!?!? I told my boyfriend I was still in LA and flew all the way to NYC just to surprise him!!! If you’re wondering if he freaked out, yes, he FREAKED OUT. Mission accomplished.

Anyway, because I was getting into NYC at Grand Central and he goes to Columbia University, I had to look for a restaurant on the West Side that would fall somewhere in the middle of those two locations. This is how I stumbled upon The Milling Room, a chic Upper West Side restaurant in NYC! Warning: although they don’t have vegan options on the menu, they do always have a vegan option of the day, which means it’s a great place to go if you are with non-vegans (and/or vegan h8ters).

After I surprised my BF/scared the living shit out of him, he, his friend Dante, my friend Catherine, and I dined at the Milling Room! The vegan option of the day was this butternut squash, mushroom salad thing (I can’t remember the name, ok!?!), which sounded super lame when the waiter mentioned it, but it was actually INCREDIBLE!

It featured roasted pieces of squash on top of squash puree, alongside a fresh salad with sauteed mushrooms. It was delicious and light, but filling at the same time. Not to mention, it was also super healthy. Two in one! Woohoo!

Final review of the Milling Room: Great atmosphere. Great food. Great place to scare the living shit out of your boyfriend.
