Vegan at Nobu Los Cabos Resort

After this horrid-AF pandemic, we’re all overdue on a vacation, right? RIGHT!? Plz make me feel better about traveling…

Anyway, my sister, our good friend, and I decided to take a cute little girl’s trip to Cabo, Mexico for the weekend.

As some of you know, Mexico can be a bit dangerous if you don’t have a proper guide/knowledge of the terrain, so we decided to juust stay at the resort the entire vacation. However, no fear. This wasn’t just any resort. We BALLED OUT on the Nobu Hotel in Los Cabos and every penny was so worth it. Not to mention, there were TONS of vegan options at the resort. There were honestly many that we didn’t even get to try them all. I mean, is this paradise or what?

So, in this blog post, I’ll brag go through each of the restaurants at the resort and let you know which options are avail.

  1. Nobu

Ok, so I had to start with the hotel’s namesake because… because I felt like it. Deal with it. So the Nobu in Los Cabos is fairly similar to any Nobu around the world, with a few differences according to local/seasonal items. So, if you’re familiar with what you like to be made vegan at Nobu, you’ll be able to get it at this one, guaranteed.

If you’ve never been to Nobu, just know that Nobu has a million vegan options (you can check them out on our post dedicated to Nobu). This time, we got a delicious yuzu mocktail, 3 handrolls (one veggie, one cucumber, one avocado), the veggie tacos, and we also got a free birthday dessert which came with beet (yes BEET) and some sort of Mexican-cactus (?) flavored sorbet.

Everything was AMAZING. The veggie tacos blew us all away (I swear they are better at this location than the US ones) and the unique sorbet flavors were so, so cool. If you’re in Cabo or staying at this hotel, I 100% recommend coming here. Plus, we were sat right by the ocean and saw the most amazing sunset. Expensive Japanese food and dope views with people you love… doesn’t get better than that.

2. Ardea Steakhouse

Now, I know what you are thinking. You’re vegan and went to a steakhouse??  Hellz ya I did! Wanna know why? Because the steakhouse at the Nobu Cabo hotel has AN ENTIRE VEGAN MENU. I’m not even shitting you. Their vegan menu is literally more in-depth and creative than most 100% vegan restaurants I’ve ever been to.

They had so many things, we wanted to try them all, but because we were only at the hotel for two nights (and our tiny stomachs can only hold so much), we got a few things to share. We got the vegan French onion soup (!!!), the crispy teriyaki tofu, and the vegan mozzarella pizza. OMGEEE. Words cannot describe how f’n delicious everything was. I’m not even kidding, that vegan pizza may have been one of the most delicious vegan pizzas I’ve ever had. When I pulled my piece from the pie, I got a freakin cheese pull!! That’s, like, unheard of for vegan cheese.

Not to mention, they gave us a complimentary birthday dessert with little vegan chocolate bonbons and macarons. Again, I repeat, VEGAN. Salivating just thinking about this meal.

Anyway, if you are in Cabo and love yourself even the teeniest bit, do yourself a favor and GO HERE.

3. Playabar

The Playabar was basically the casual poolside bar/restaurant where you can order frozen drinks, chips and guac, sandwiches, all that good stuff. What was awesome, though, was that all of the vegan options were clearly marked on the menu, so it was really easy to order.

We didn’t get to try all of the vegan options, but we did get their chips and guac (I swear there’s guac under that mountain of cilantro/parsley in the pic?? idk the herb), a giant fruit plate, and an AMAZING cold Asian noodle bowl that Bella got twice. Not to mention, they have a very impressive cocktail list with mocktails, frozen drinks, and other classic cocktails. You bet your ass we had our fair share of alcoholic drinks. After all, it’s vacation and, in the wise words of Euphoria’s Cassie, “You can all judge me if you want. I don’t care and I have never cared because I have never, ever been happier!!”

4. Nobu Cafe

People, are you listening? If not, listen closer. Nobu has its own freakin cafe at this hotel. Like, don’t mind me… just grabbing a quick coffee at the Nobu cafe! How fancy does that sound!?

Anyway, the Nobu cafe was the most adorable bar/coffee shop/bakery hybrid in the hotel lobby. They had lattes, matcha, etc with soy/almond/oat/coconut milk options and a variety of vegan syrups, including rose, and almond syrup! Not to mention they offered vegan banana muffins and a vegan orange cake.

Bella and I both got matchas. We tried the plain version, the rose syrup version, and the almond syrup version. They were ok! Not the best matcha and not the worst. However, the star of the show was definitely the chia banana muffin. OMGEE. That shit was crack. Tasted like a moist homemade banana bread cloud. Brought me right back to those early quarantine days I think so fondly off…(jk I very much don’t.)

5. Malibu Farm

The OG Malibu Farm is based in – you guessed it – Malibu, California. We’ve been to that location a handful of times, in addition to going to the location at the Nobu hotel in Lanai, Hawaii. As much as I love the idea of Malibu Farm, they always have wayyyy fewer vegan options than you think. The Cabo Malibu Farm was no different.

I believe they had about two vegan breakfast options. One was a vegan breakfast burrito and the other was the quinoa oatmeal, which we got.

Bella LOVED the oatmeal. I thought it was solid. What I did appreciate, however, was the vegan bread and spreads (apple cinnamon, strawberry jam, and pineapple) that they did offer us for free at the start of our meal. Those were delicious! If I went back, I’d just order the toast and spreads. Bella also got a watermelon juice and enjoyed that as well! Woohoo! Would I go out of your way to go here, not necessarily? But if you’re with non-vegan guests, it’s a solid breakfast spot.

6. Last, but certainly not least, in-room dining

To be honest, we didn’t look at the whole menu because we were full as F*CK from going to all the resort restaurants, but one thing we did note was the vegan chocolate cake on the room service dessert menu. Like… when do you ever see that?

Bella ordered it, of course, and it was DELICIOUS. It was almost mousse-like rather than cake-like, which made it that much more yummy and unique. If we were there for a longer stay, we would have 100% had ordered 50 more. No cap.

7. Cabo airport

Ok, jk, I lied. One more place – the airport of course. This airport was decent-sized and had a few vegan options including Panda Express (I didn’t check if they were serving the orange beyond meat chicken, but I know PE has other vegan options) and Subway. The only bad thing about Mexican subway is that all of their sauces are cream-based except BBQ, so we prayed to God it was vegan and ordered a veggie sandwich with that. They didn’t even have vinegar and oil, which was kinda weird. Anyway, it was delicious because, as always, Subway slaps.

That’s it for this trip, vegan homies! It was a blast-a-roni! Until next time…
