Vegan at Lady Byrd Café – Los Angeles, CA

Okay. So I must admit: I initially only came to Lady Byrd because I saw a TikTok about their super cute, covid-friendly greenhouse sitting areas. BUT I was pleasantly surprised by all the vegan options as well!!

When I got there, I suddenly realized that the restaurant took over the location of a restaurant that used to be called Pollen (they had an amazing vegan benedict). I had no idea Pollen had closed down and that Lady Byrd opened in it’s place. It was like having dejavu but not? Like I had been there before, but not?

Anyway, the greenhouses were cute but the area that held them was super crowded and whimsical and kind of felt like an abandoned backyard where you could like kidnap someone and hide them for years without anybody knowing. It deff was a wierd vibe. They offered us this super dingy greenhouse in the back or this super wonky sitting area sandwiched in between the prettier greenhouses. We chose that area but there was a super weird disco ball that kept flashing lights in our eyes SOOOO we asked to move to the patio on the other side of the cafe. (YEAH. I know that was a lot to take in, but imagine actually being there)

The patio that we moved to had amazing vibes that were calm and chill and simple and clean. They had heat lamps and every table came with fluffy blankets. The patio was so much better than the greenhouse area. I don’t care what anybody says. Maybe I’m just not whimsical enough for that lifestyle.

Anyways, the staff was SO SO SO friendly and accommodating. 10/10 customer service. They have a few vegan options on the menu which I super appreciated. I got a drink drink called “The Little Bee Hummingbird” which came with mango, pineapple, coconut milk, plantain, and cinnamon agave. It was so so so yummy and refreshing.

To eat, I got the vegan burger which came with a side of salad or fries. I got the salad and my friend got the fries. I don’t even like salad but this salad was INCREDIBLE. I ate it before I even touched my burger. The fries were also super good and salty. The burger was also so fricken delicious. It did come with two patties, which I didn’t love, so if I ordered it again, I would just ask for one. But it was still so so yummy and hearty.

It’s a really cute brunch spot if you want to grab food with someone who isn’t vegan. I wouldn’t be rushing to come back here but I think it’s a cute spot for brunch if a non-vegan friend is in town 🙂
