Vegan at KFC Review (2022)

Ok, I’m gonna be real with you all – I did not grow up on KFC. I was a Boston Market kind of gal. However, I did grow up knowing Colonel Sanders was the chicken king because I didn’t live under a rock, ok!?

After I went vegan, though, I didn’t really have a reason to ever go to KFC, so it kind of disappeared from my memory. That is UNTIL they recently released the Beyond Meat chicken nuggets. That’s when I suddenly remembered KFC existed and was like – hold my tatas, I need to try these nugs.

So my sister and I pulled up to KFC and ordered a 6-piece Beyond Nuggets, with a fried apple pie, and two diet Pepsis. I believe their BBQ beans are also vegan and maybe some other modified things, but double-check on that.

Anyway, the nuggets were really solid! The inside was a bit thick and rubbery, but not in a gross, just in a vegan way lol. However, it was the outside crispy-ness that really made it delicious! Overall, we thought it was a really solid, filling, tasty vegan fast food option like the Burger King Impossible Whopper. The apple pie was also super yummy. Not as yummy as the McDonalds one, because that one’s elite, but still delicious and warm and churro-like.

The only sauces that are certified vegan are ketchup and hot sauce. We got the BBQ sauce because we’re a little lenient with honey (I know, it’s bad), but it’s up to you and what you’re comfortable with.

It should be noted that they do fry the Beyond nuggets in the same fryer as the meat. Because it’s not harming the animals, I don’t think that’s a vegan issue, but rather a personal one. If you disagree, go eat a sock.

Anyway, if you go, say hi to the colenol for me!
