Vegan at Halo Top Scoop Shop

Show of hands for all the people out there who have heard of Halo Top? Well, for those of you not raising your hands (yes, Karen. I see you), Halo Top is an ice cream brand that is marketed as a “low calorie” ice cream. Aka, each grocery store tub in total ranges from about 270-370 calories, for the whole thing!!!

Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, it is true. Kind of. Sure it doesn’t taste AS GOOD as fatty, creamy, high-cal ice cream, but it sure is not bad! Plus, the brand started making a line of vegan flavors last year! So how could you not be on board?

The company has actually branched out from grocery stores and now has their very own scoop shops in Southern California. So far there are only three (we went to the one at the Grove), but maybe if we picket outside their headquarters and throw ice cream at them, they’ll feel peer pressured to open more!

Anyway, the scoop shop in the Grove had three vegan flavors. Bella and I went with the “90 calories per scoop” chocolate chip cookie dough. Wow, I almost wrote chocolate chip cookie doe. Bye lol. Bella got hers with crushed Oreos on top and I got mine with chocolate sprinkles and Maraschino cherries.

Now I know what you all are thinking. 90 calories ice cream? Gross. But it was actually REALLY good! It was creamy and the cookie dough bites were super lit and tasted like real cookie dough! I would 10/10 go back if I’m ever meandering in the Grove again. Plus, for those of you Halo queens out there (or even Halo haterz out there), I think you should know that the ice cream served fresh at the scoop shop is 50 %, if not more, better than the ice cream sold in the cartons.

So which one will you be? A Halo queen or a Halo h8ter? I guess there’s only one way to find out….
