Vegan at Cafe Solar – Los Angeles, CA

I came across Cafe Solar when I was doing a bit of a road trip to donate some furniture to A Sense of Home (great organization. Click here to support). I was trying to find a cute cafe to go to on my way back because I’ve realized that, although long drives suck, if you find a cute cafe on the way, the drive can become really fun.

I finally stumbled upon Cafe Solar on my phone and decided to check it out. It’s super close to LAX and it has a giant parking lot in the back so parking was not an issue.

The actual cafe is super spacious, bright, airy, and chill. I was just doing pick-up, so I’m not sure how the service is or any of that stuff, etc. BUT surprisingly they did have a few (not many) but still a few vegan options!

I got the avocado toast (I asked to put it on sourdough because I didn’t feel like asking if the original bread it came on was vegan) and I asked for some pickled onions on top. I’m a total hoe for pickled onions!! I also got their “sweet greens” fresh juice, as well as their only vegan muffin! I don’t remember the flavor of the muffin but it was potentially marshmallow sweet potato?

Over all, the food was good! Not great. But super filling and definitely satisfying. The juice was my favorite. I usually don’t love green juices but this one was 10/10. The avocado toast was yummy! Not my favorite but still yummy. And the muffin… well… it disappointed a little. It smelled amazing (like Main Street in Disneyland) but the actual muffin itself was incredibly dense and dry (almost like a scone). The flavor was good but I couldn’t get past the texture. Maybe picturing it as a scone and eating it with butter would have made it seem tastier.

Would i go out of my way to come back here? No, probably not. If I was by LAX and was hungry, would I come back here? Absolutely!
