Vegan at Cafe Landwer – Los Angeles, CA

GUYS. Rarely, do vegan options, at a non-vegan restaurant, excite my sister and I. Usually it’s 1) a vegan burger 2) vegetable sides 3) avocado toast. Which, to be fair, we are always grateful when there is even ONE vegan option at a restaurant (especially when it’s labeled on the menu), but we are usually never WOW’d by them. UNTIL….. CAFE LANDWER.

My co-worker recommended I check it out because they have an entire vegan menu and all the vegan options are clearly labeled on the menu. They even have vegan options of popular non-vegan dishes like shawarma and shakshuka. This cafe actually started as a chain in Israel which is why the food is 1) SO good and 2) Vegan friendly. Did you know that 5% of the Israel is Vegan? How COOL. So if you want to feel like you’re in Tel Aviv but you live in Los Angeles, come here.

The vibe of the actual cafe is so warm and inviting. We brought our dog so we had to sit outside in the chilly LA winter weather (55 degrees is no joke in LA). We did wish they had heaters outside but it is what it is. The service was also incredibly slow (they had like 3 waiters for the entire place and this cafe is in the Century City Mall so, naturally, it gets busy). We were a little annoyed at how slow the service was taking but totally forgot about it all when we got our food!

To warm up, we got mint tea and ginger lemon tea. My sister said the mint tea was amazing and tasted like fresh mint.

We ordered the “Vegan Breakfast” and the hummus w falafel. To be honest, the vegan breakfast was MORE than enough food. We couldn’t even finish the falafel and hummus but it was tasty as hell. The vegan breakfast is a vegan version of their famous Cafe Landwer Breakfast. The vegan breakfast came with a quinoa and chickpea flour omelette (that was BOMBBBBB), served with a tray of little dipping sauces, a side of pita, and a salad. The best part of the meal was the DIPPING SAUCES.

It came with tahini, olives, eggplant spread, halva spread, guacamole, hummus, vegan yogurt, granola, and pickled veggies. Everything was OUT OF THIS WORLD. 10/10. That halva dip was straight up DESSERT. I licked the little bowl clean. Not only was the meal kind of interactive (lots of dipping and mixing and matching flavors) but it was filling and delicious.

10/10 recommend coming here. WOW. SOOO bomb.

Just… maybe just don’t come when you’re in a rush.
