Vegan at Alimama – New York City, NY

Have you guys ever been to China Town? Well, let me tell you, there are some hidden gems there. If you live in NYC, you should totally follow @veganeatsnyc because she always knows all the vegan gems in the city. So, hidden smack dab in the middle of China Town (if you’re walking to this place, prepare to smell lots of interesting scents – AKA fish. Lots of it) but don’t let that deter you because this place is worth the trek!

Alimama is a little tea/donut shop that serves all kinds of delicious teas from ice teas to boba teas and even has MOCHI DONUT HOLES. Yes, you read that right. Not everything is vegan but the people at the store were so helpful and knew exactly what was vegan when I asked! The interior was also so chic and modern. I was obsessed. It’s a little small, but there’s a lot of seating.

I got the lychee rose tea to drink which was INCREDIBLE. 10/10 would trek through China Town just for that tea alone. It was so refreshing and fruity and just all around delicious. One of the best teas I’ve ever had ever. Imma pull an an Alladin and say do you trust me? Because if you do, go here for this tea.

For the mochi donut holes, they offered two vegan flavors: Taro and Matcha. Literally two of my favorite flavors in general. If you don’t know what taro is, it’s  a root vegetable that’s super purple and almost tastes like a sweet potato. It’s really yummy. The donuts were so chewy and soft but crispy and warm on the outside. The flavors were so fricken yummy. The matcha tasted so decadent and the taro was so light and subtle and delicious. We all agreed we liked the taro better than the matcha but both were amazing.
