If you haven’t seen one of the five million Instagram stories the Kardashians and Jenners have been posting about olive oil cakes… you must be hiding under a rock. I swear, it was like the “National Olive Oil Cake Committee” paid the whole family to promote this one dessert for 30 days straight. 

Regardless, the neverending posts eventually got me craving this olive oil cake that I had never even heard of. The only problem was: the brand they were obsessed with isn’t vegan and because olive oil cake isn’t a common dessert, it’s not just something I can find at a normal vegan restaurant. So I threw in the towel and thought I would never get to try the coveted baked good…

That is, until, I found The Moody Vegan on Instagram. The Moody Vegan is a vegan (duh) LA-based bakery that makes endless, creative vegan desserts, does free delivery on Saturdays, and – just wait for it – MAKES VEGAN OLIVE OIL CAKES!! 

It took probably one second in between me seeing the cake and me ordering the cake. I wish I was kidding. The cake (+ delivery) was $20, which is such a steal considering the cakes the Kardashian’s were promoting were $40. I was totally fine with the price. The cake is small, but could easily serve at least ten people (Or one if you eat it with a fork in your pajamas like me).

The review: it was heavenly. The cake was so moist (sorry, I had to use the worst), yet light and airy. It also had the most delicious and subtle lemon taste. It truly felt like I was eating a dessert cloud. Writing this blog post makes me want to go eat another slice. Also, to make it even better, the staff was so incredibly friendly and helpful during the whole ordering/delivery process. 

I definitely recommend checking out their website and Instagram and supporting this small business if you can… and you better grab an olive oil cake fast because, if not, I’m buying them all. Sorry, not sorry.
