Province Apothocary Products Review

Is it just me or do you think of Romeo and Juliet every time you see the word apothecary? I remember reading the scene in R & J where Romeo goes to the apothecary to buy poison and I remember being like, “what in the world is an apothecary?? They have designated people who just brew up poison potions for people??” Turns out, apothecaries just sell medicine… and drugs. So, essentially, apothecaries are drug dealers. Romeo Montague had a drug dealer, ladies and gents. Let that soak in.

Speaking of soaking in, let’s stop talking about drugs and start talking about great skincare products that effectively moisturize and soak into your face! That was a bad transition, but let’s just roll with it. Bella and I were fortunate enough to attend a health and wellness event today, which featured the amazing vegan skincare brand: Province Apothecary. The founder of the company came to speak about her products and you could tell how passionate she was about the products she was selling. She also shared a neat little beauty fun fact: the products you put on your skin absorb into your body ten times faster than the foods you put in your mouth!! Crazy, huh?

The unique thing about Province Apothecary is that they sell an oil-based cleanser. The reasoning behind this is that adding oil to your face is actually a much gentler way of cleaning your face/removing makeup and doesn’t add more oil to your face as some would believe. Apparently, fun fact numero dos, oil cleansers are the way people have been cleaning their faces for centuries! Who knew? Maybe Cleopatra was on this grind before we even knew about it!

Anyway, the event also included mini-facials using their products, so, of course, my sister and I had to do it. I’m just never going to say no to a free facial. It just won’t happen. The facials were super relaxing and our skin felt incredibly smooth afterward. Personally, I’m not a fan of putting oil on my face because it does make me break out, but that being said, if I wasn’t so sensitive to oil-based products, I would love these. They’re vegan, smell fresh, and did a great job of removing my makeup and not feeling heavy on the skin.

At the end of the event, we did get a goody bag with all their products, including their dual-sided jade roller, which was my favorite part!! I can’t wait to play with all my goodies. My only warning to you all is that they did mention that they have a goat-hair dry brush, which of course isn’t vegan. HOWEVER, the reason why they chose to go with goat hair is because they really support IRIS HANTVERK, a Swedish community of visually-impaired artists who make the brushes . So even if you feel guilty for buying the brush, at least you know you’re helping the world in some way or another.
