Hanami Body Lotion Review

My sister Bella is a skincare hoe queen and got me hooked on applying/luxuriously-lathering body lotion on my body every time after I get out of the shower. I was previously really into Kylie Skin’s coconut body lotion, but that damn pump broke literally every single time I used it, so I had to move on from my beloved coconut cream and find another vegan lotion.

After some deep digging on the dark web, I finally found this Hanami plant-based body lotion from Credo. For those of you who don’t know what Credo is, it’s like a Sephora for all clean products, and most of them are also plant-based which is great. The reviews were good. My skin was dry. I didn’t take a further moment to debate. Click. Add to cart. Check out.

A few days later, the cream came and I couldn’t wait to dive in… but as I slathered it onto my body, I noticed something odd. The smell. The lotion bottle says (as you can see in the picture below) that the scent is: fig, white florals, hazelnut, and sandalwood. But I didn’t smell that. All I smelled was that bananay-woody smell of the E.T. ride at Universal Studios. I know that is such a weird comparison to make, but anyone who has been on that ride knows exactly what I’m talking about. The E.T. ride has SUCH a distinct smell and that’s exactly what this cream smells like.

Texture-wise, it’s great. It’s thick but spreadable and it makes my skin super soft. But do I want to smell like I’m kidnapping ET and running away from cops in the middle of the forest? Probably not.

Will I buy it again? TBH, I already did. It makes my skin feel amazing. I just don’t put it on right before I go in public lol.
