Vegan in Franz Josef, New Zealand

Franz Josef is one of the most unique places I have ever been. It’s like a VERY small town with glaciers, quad biking, horseback riding, hostels, and fancy ass restaurants. But I swear it’s like the size of my university, maybe even smaller. Like it’s the smallest fucking place ever lol. They have like 5 restaurants. It’s so bizarre.

1. Snake Bite Brewery

They have THE BEST TOFU PAD THAI EVER here. It was so good…. I ordered a second… right after I finished the first. Honestly, not one of my finer moments but HEY I like to live on the edge. Make sure to tell the waitress you are vegan so they can make any modifications. They also have a vegan burger, curry, and chia pudding. So if you want some baller pad thai, COME HERE. It was perfection.

2. The Landing Restaurant and Bar

After taking a really cool helicopter ride to a glacier, we were so hungry and wanted some delicious breakfast, so we came here. I talked to the waiters about being vegan and they talked to the chef and offered me a couple things they could modify. They were SO nice and accommodating.  I chose the big breakfast plate.

It came with  dairy free toast, hash browns, roasted tomatoes, beans, and mushrooms. SO yummy and filling. I also asked for ketchup so I could make a sandwich out of it all (very inspired by Supreme Banana and all of her veganized videos). I also got a soy chai which was SO yummy and cinnamon-y.

ANNNNND, that’s it folks! We were only there for like a day and a half (you honestly only need like half a day LOL) but we did some nature trails and went to the glacier and ate some yummy food so twas a success.
