VEGAN AT GRACIAS MADRE- LOS ANGELES

So after having to endure a test screening of the movie Project Almanac (found footage film about time travel) and wanting to time travel back in time so we never had to see the movie (it was pretty bad folks. But the main guy was smokin  ), we decided to go to Gracias Madre on Melrose, a vegan mexican joint that is pop lockin and droppin. Ok, first of all, Melrose is by far my favorite place in LA. It’s got Urth, Alfreds, Duffs, Real Food, Craigs (legit right across from Gracias Madre), Sprinkles, the coolest shops, etc. Melrose is DEFF a must go.

Anyways, because it was a friday night, it was swarming with people (and celebrities? Idk, some pap from Craigs ran over to snap a couple pics). Olie was like, “I legit thought this was like a little local mexican joint ” . We had to wait 45 minutes for a table but we just bummed it outside on the steps and got to just look at an adorable corgi playing outside. Then we finally got our table and got seated right next to the table with the hot guy we were drooling over when we were waiting at the front #WinnerWinnerGraciasMadreDinner (He legit looked like Paul from Orphan Black #hotstuff)

Anyways, this place is super expensive but if you get food to share, it’s totally worth it. For appetizer, we got the warm tortillas with guacamole (we were day dreaming about these during Project Almanac because that was better than watching the actual movie #sass #yass) Anyways, those were really good, the guac was a bit spicy, but delicious and the salsa was yummy too.

For our main course, we got the chopped salad. I thought it was okay, but Ali and Olie both said they “liked it better with each bite”. I’m not kidding, they both said that #wierd We also got the flautos (little sweet potato baked into crunchy tortillas with cashew cheese and black bean puree) SO DELICIOUS. So amazing. Craving it right now. And then for dessert we got the Apple Cobler which was stellar. Best apple cobbler I’ve ever had. The crust was perfect, the ice cream was delicious and kind of tasted like whipped cream, and the apple were great. Deff my favorite thing that night. All of our dishes were the perfect meal for three people. I wasn’t too hungry by the end, yet my stomach wasn’t hanging over my pants #Score

So, check this place out. It has delicious food, a great atmosphere, and perfect for sharing with friends (Especially cause of the cost). i would call in to reserve a res so you don’t end up looking like Orphan Annie waiting on the steps for 45 mins #justsayin, and come eat some quality mexican food! P.S. Don’t order the cherry coke. It tastes like potpourri (<– who knew it was spelled like that) in a cup. #nahcool unnamedunnamed-1 DSC00065DSC00066DSC00067LOLLLLLLLLLL only the cilantro was in focus  DSC00068DSC00069
