PURE FOOD AND WINE- UNION SQUARE, NY

Every vegan (and even some non-vegans) I know always recommended this place, so my sister and I were lucky enough to be invited out to dinner by our old baby-sitters (Old as in “used to be” not as in age lol) Carol and Jatnna!!!

And wow, what a culinary experience. The service was super fast and incredibly friendly and the food was super delicious and creative. It kind of reminds me of Crossroads in LA. We sat inside because it was chilly, but on warmer days I would definitely recommend sitting outside. They have a beautiful garden place to eat that looks really fun and zen (And would make for great photos! Just watching out for you instagrammers out der)

There are three courses (Appetizer, meal, and desert) so for each course we just got a few for the table to share. For the appetizer, we got the cornbread pudding with crispy kale, pumpkin seed crisp, and corn salt. This was surprisingly delicious and easy to share. We also got the Philly Roll of avocado, Kimchee and creamy cashew cheese. It was a sushi roll and it came with this amazing sauce and we all agreed it was the best plate of the night. Yummmmm.

For the second course, we got two sweet corn and cashew tamales (And it came with a yummy peanut sauce), we also got the taco platter and the zucchini and heirloom tomato lasagna. I really liked the tacos, Carol really liked the tamales, and Jatnna and Bella really like the lasagna! So overall, they were pretty good!

AND DESSERT WAS AMAZING!!! We got a chocolate and jungle peanut butter cheesecake which was really good and game with a bunch of layers like a soft peanut butter cheesecake with a chocolate brownie underneath in a chocolate frame, topped with a homemade peanut butter cup and salted peanut butter ice cream with a side of a chocolate covered banana slice. Very good and great if you love peanut butter. However, the BEST DISH of the night was…..drum roll….the mint sundae with chocolate mint cookies!!! The cookies were so freakin good and worked SO well with the ice cream. MUST GET!!!

I think you must try this place out at least once if you are a vegan. It is a bit expensive, so I would save it for a special occasion!  (ours was a congrats dinner for graduating high school…to all those who doubted me, lol) Oh, and also, the menu changes with the season so make sure to check online before going!
