What inspired you to go vegan?

I was vegetarian for 2 years prior to going vegan. Then my freshman year of high school I was doing a year long research project on animal cruelty and after watching countless PETA videos decided that I couldn’t bear to harm anymore animals.

What are some of your favorite vegan restaurants?

My absolute favorites are URTH and By Chloe. I also love a place called Seedz in St. Louis.

What are your favorite vegan dishes to make?

I love to make vegan chocolate chip cookies and acai bowls. I also really like making vegan grilled cheese.

What are common misconceptions about being vegan?

That you can’t eat anything. That you don’t get enough protein. That milk and eggs don’t harm animals.

What is the worst part about being vegan?

I miss cheese pizza.

What is the best part about being vegan?

Definitely knowing that I’m not harming any animals.

What advice to you have for people who want to become vegan?

I would advise them to start gradually as it is a big transition, but to stick with it. I also find that it’s about balance so find a balance at first that makes you more able to commit.

How has your life changed since you’ve become vegan?

I definitely am a lot more aware of what I eat. I also know that ingredients to a lot more things than I used to.

What are the top 3 reasons to go vegan?

It’ll make animals happy. It makes you feel better and happier. It gives you more energy and opens up a whole new world of food.
